Alright, let me get back to posting about art! Here's the current stage of this painting that I have been slowly chipping away at, like, forever. There's still so much of it that is nowhere near complete, and where the only layer of paint is the thin underpainting. It's coming along, though, and I feel it will be completed sooner than I think. I'm over a hurdle, both with this painting, and also hopefully with recent events. Will I now return to my usual workaholic self?Also thought it would be interesting to post this; it's the painting, but completely desaturated. Looking at a painting in black and white can give you a lot of great information, and it's important that it all make sense visually when the color isn't there.

I like the comparison of the color vs. black and white. It brings out the depth in the color version, but the highlights stand out more in the B&W. Like her left shoulderblade and the back of her neck. It draws my eyes upward.

If it was up to me, the yard would just be spotty grass. Russell is the one with the fabulous plan for the yard. He's also going to have to be the one to pick up a shovel, hand it to me, and bribe me with presents to get out there and dig/carry stones/touch dirt.

it is exciting to see work in progress from you. (makes me get away from the idiot box and get a drawing pad.) Love the new work. Do you do periodic desaturation checks on all of your large pieces? It appears to be a great tool. Very telling whether you have adequate value contrast and if it is needed, or if chromatic contrast is what you are striving for. kudos! hope you and your bunch are ok. db
